I was lucky enough to take a trip down to sequin wonderland, otherwise known as a preview of the Aje SS12/13 collections held at the Hush Communications showrooms.

Details included laser cut outs on leather and of course, sequins which were easily the highlight of the collection. You could really see where the hours and effort spent hand-beading went – words could not explain just how exquisite some of these pieces were.

As the name suggests, the Shipwrecked Ball collection is one that symbolises the sea; with the sequins representing barnacles that you would find on rocks down by the ocean.

These photos don’t really do the collection much justice, so to check out more photos of the entire collection that was shown at MBFWA, head over to the Aje Facebook page.

The last day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia started off bright and early at 9am with Suboo Resort‘s MBFWA debut.

I found myself 47 floors up above Sydney’s CBD at The Summit – a restaurant that boasts a tremendous 360 degree view over Sydney, which is where the show was held. Seeing the golden morning light over Sydney was stunning to say at the least – I don’t ever recall being up that high before in my life (besides being on a plane, of course).

Prior to the show, all guests were treated to breakfast and coffee/tea which boy, was I glad to see after a long week at MBFWA.

My personal favourites from the collection were the mesh and neon pieces (see image 4). Definitely already keen for Summer even though Winter hasn’t officially begun yet.

Just a few shots from the Flowers For A Vagabond installation on day two of MBFWA last week.

The display of the installation was presented in what I thought was an eerily manner, with faux tree branches and smoke taking up a portion of the room (think Sleepy Hollow).

The highlight of the installation for me, was the dress with the tattoo-like sleeves on them (as seen in images 2 & 3). Already a fan of tattoos, I’ve always wanted to start a sleeve on my right arm. Until I actually decide on what I want my sleeve to consist of, I think this piece will do just the trick.
